The Qualifying Stage determines the starting order

The Qualifying Stage on Thursday evening determines the starting order on Friday, and it will be run according to a new concept. The Qualifying Stage will be driven by the Gold Entries and FIA priority drivers, in other words the top cars in Rally2 and the GTs. A total of three runs are completed. After Q1, only the fastest 15 qualify for the second run, Q2. After Q2, only the fastest 10 of Q2 are move on to complete the third run, Q3. The result of the third run determines the starting order of the first ten cars. Places 11 to 15 are taken by the 5 dropouts from Q2 based on their time in Q2. This is followed by the other participants of the Qualifying Stage in order of their times they set in Q1. So whoever dropsout or goes off track in the third run, will still get a starting position for the dropouts from Q2. Q3 is effectively a “Superpole” qualifying run. Who will open the road on Stage 1 in Westouter on Friday? We will know at about 8pm on Thursday evening…
