Enthusiasm aplenty for the Bernard Degroote Monteberg Rally

The Club Superstage season gets underway in just six weeks with the 52nd Bernard Degroote Monteberg Rally. Mark Sunday, 5 May in your diaries for what will be a great event.

The competition starts from the service park in Sappenleen in Poperinge at 8:00 am. There are three loops of three tests on the menu: Wijtschate (13.67 km), a new test, Monteberg (10.90 km) and Busseboom (7.81 km). In the fourth round, only Wijtschate and the Monteberg will be ridden, after which the winner will be honored at 6:10 PM on the Grote Markt of Poperinge.

Drivers and teams have repsonded enthusiastically with more than 60 registrations already been received. There are some big names among them, but we will make you wait for the names but it promises to be a great edition. We can tease some names as two foreign teams with fast cars. Dutchman Erik Moree will bring a Skoda Fabia R5 Evo to the start, while the British Richard Weatherley will discover the Monteberg with a Citroën C3 Rally2.

Xavier Dekeyser will switch to a Renault Clio Rally3 this year. Joachim Dequeker chooses the Rally5 variant of the Clio. The Porsche 911s of Geert Lacour and Lode de Keyser should of course not be missing from Historic and they will may strong competitors for Nick Toorre’s Ford Sierra. Patrick Lievens brings his fast BMW M3 E30 to the start, while Philip Barbier remains loyal to his Mitsubishi Lancer EvoVI. The fast Thijs Meirlevede starts with a Ford Fiesta R2T.

This is just a small selection of the provisional registrations for the 52nd edition of the Bernard Degroote Monteberg Rally. A beautiful event is in the making.
